The University of Westminster's India Base camp hosted a dinner in honour of Rt Hon Lord Paul of Marylebone, PC, the Chancellor of the University on Monday 1 April at the Hotel Taj Mahal in New Delhi. Eleven alumni participated in the dinner, ten from New Delhi and one alumnus who flew specially from the city of Mumbai to be part of the event. Lord Paul was greeted by Dr Vikram Mathur (Accounting and Finance 1982), Head of the Alumni Association, who introduced the group of alumni present.
Lord Paul shared the University's vision and briefed everyone about the activities of the India team in the last 18 months, including the development of the Indian alumni database. Lord Paul stated that the presence of India Base Camp, with the support of the University's International Office had been instrumental in strengthening the Indian Alumni Association in India. He also announced that the University would soon be launching formal alumni chapters in Delhi and Mumbai. Dr Vikram Mathur and Ms Anju Singh, Country Advisor for India asked alumni to support Westminster to strengthen the University's brand in India by assisting the India team and also support the recruitment of returning Indian graduates within their organisations, and through their corporate networks.
