London Student Sustainability Conference 2027 – apply now to get involved

Get involved in the London Student Sustainability Conference (LSSC) by becoming a presenter or joining the LSSC Steering Group as a volunteer.

Now in its ninth year, the London Student Sustainability Conference (LSSC) is a student-led conference coordinated by 11 London universities that brings together London-based students to showcase research, projects and initiatives linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

You can now apply to get involved in one of two ways:

  • Apply to present your research, project or creative work related to the SDGs (applications due 23 November 2026)
  • Apply to voluntarily sit on the LSSC Steering Group to help plan and deliver the Conference (applications due 18 October 2026)

What can I present?

The Conference programme will bring together student-led research, projects, workshops, speakers and networking opportunities from universities across London. Whether you have research to share, a project you are proud of, or a creative way of exploring sustainability, LSSC27 is an opportunity to showcase your work to a wider audience while developing your communication and employability skills and expanding your professional network.

Westminster students can apply to share work connected to the SDGs through an oral presentation, academic poster or creative presentation.

The top three oral presentation submissions will also be invited to present at the Student Sustainability Research Conference 2027 (SSRC27) in Leeds, with travel and attendance expenses covered.

Why sit on the Steering Group?

Volunteering for the LSSC Steering Group is a chance to gain valuable behind-the-scenes experience while developing skills that can support your professional growth and employability. It’s practical experience you can add to your CV, demonstrating your involvement in the planning and delivery of a major student-led Conference.

Successful applicants will become full members of the LSSC Steering Group, attending online monthly meetings throughout the planning process (October 2026 - February 2027) and contributing to discussions and decisions that help guide the conference.

You’ll contribute your ideas, take part in discussions and decisions, and gain first-hand experience of what goes into creating a smooth, inclusive and impactful conference.

When and where will LSSC27 take place?

LSSC27 will take place on Wednesday, 24 February 2027, from 9:30am to 6pm, at the University of West London (Ealing Campus, St Mary’s Road Ealing, London, W5 5RF).

Both presenters and Student Steering Group members will be expected to attend the Conference in person.
