Global goals on a student budget? The Global Experience Bursary is here to help

The Global Experience Bursary is designed to help you have the financial means to take part in global opportunities.

Do you often see global opportunities and think “this sounds amazing, but there’s no chance I could afford it”? You’re not alone - but there is help available.

Here at Westminster, we believe that your personal circumstances shouldn’t determine your ability to take part in global opportunities. We know that taking part in these opportunities is not cheap.

The Global Experience Bursary is designed to help students to have the financial means to take part in global opportunities.

What is the bursary?

The Global Experience Bursary is in place to support undergraduate and postgraduate students in undertaking short-term study, research, work or volunteering opportunities abroad over the summer. It is open to all students currently enrolled at the University of Westminster, including Foundation and Apprenticeship students, to apply.

Last summer, Westminster students took part in experiences in nearly 50 different countries, across six continents. From volunteering in the heart of Fiji and Nepal to learning about K-Culture in Summer Schools in Korea and many more in between.

Why should you take part?

Previous students who applied to the Global Experience Bursary said the bursary helped them with:

  • Meeting people
  • Building networks
  • Personal growth
  • Cross cultural interaction
  • Experiential learning

What did previous participants say?

The Global Experience Bursary is an incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and see the world from a new perspective. Be open to new experiences, immerse yourself in the local culture, and don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. Plan well, make the most of every moment, and you will come back with skills, friendships, and good memories.

I would encourage any student to apply, as the bursary makes it possible to experience opportunities that may otherwise feel out of reach. Be open to challenges and new experiences, as they will help you grow both personally and professionally. My advice is to prepare well before you go but also be flexible and willing to adapt once you arrive. The experience is incredibly rewarding and worth stepping out of your comfort zone.

Apply for the Global Experience Bursary before midnight, Sunday 15 March 2026.
