Are you a student carer? The Student Carers’ Passport can help you

Balancing university with caring responsibilities can be challenging, but you don’t have to manage it alone.

Student speaking to support staff member

If you regularly provide unpaid support to a family member, friend, partner, or someone close to you who could not manage without your help because of illness, disability, mental health difficulties, addiction, or age-related needs, you may be a student carer.

Our Westminster’s Student Carers’ Passport is designed to help student carers access tailored support and make it easier to balance caring responsibilities with academic commitments.

With a Student Carers’ Passport, you can:

  • Access flexible support during your studies
  • Help colleagues understand your circumstances
  • Discuss options around deadline flexibility where appropriate
  • Access wellbeing, financial and learning support
  • Reduce stress and stay on track academically

Many students do not realise that they are carers or that support is available to them. If any of the above sounds familiar, we encourage you to find out more.
