The Cayley Project: Innovation and Creativity

The University of Westminster traces its origins to the founding in 1838 of the Polytechnic Institution at 309 Regent Street under the chairmanship of the aviation pioneer and inventor Sir George Cayley.

This project celebrates Cayley's life and achievements and over 180 years of pioneering educational work; and presents innovative and creative practice at today's University of Westminster to London, national and international audiences.

The programme will include:

  • A Welcome and Introduction by the University of Westminster's Vice-Chancellor and President Dr Peter Bonfield
  • Presentations on the Life and Work of Sir George Cayley by Alan Morrison, Project Coordinator
  • Putting the Polytechnic Archive to Work in a Contemporary University by Anna McNally, Senior Archivist
  • A Session of Short Presentations of Contemporary Innovative and Creative Projects at the University of Westminster, chaired by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr Sal Jarvis
