'Picture This' is a panel talk about the images we see every day and the power and responsibility they have across fashion, media, and culture. Bringing together industry professionals Harris Elliott, Kian Bakhitiari, Catherine Hayward and Olga Mitterfellner, the conversation explores how visual storytelling shapes identity, values, and power, often in ways we don’t immediately notice.
From advertising and social media to branding and activism, visuals play a huge role in shaping culture. But they’re not neutral. This panel will unpack some of the ongoing challenges in the field, including objectification, manipulation, cultural essentialism, and exclusion, while asking how the industry might move towards more ethical and inclusive ways of communicating.
'Picture This' isn’t about preaching or providing definitive answers. Instead, it’s an open space for reflection, discussion, and curiosity, and we invite attendees to contribute to the discussion while thinking more critically about the images they create, consume, and share every day.
