'Urbicide: The Destruction of a Built Environment’ event

Join our History Research Seminar series of events and book your place to the following events:

Dr Ammar Azzouz (University of Oxford) will examine the impact of urban destruction on the lives of Syrians and explore the challenges of subsequent urban renewal. Specifically, he will be exploring the poignant story of the destruction of his home city of Homs during the Syrian civil war and the social and psychological impact that has had on its inhabitants. This special seminar is jointly organised with Westminster’s School of Architecture.

Our subsequent event will feature a talk by Westminster PhD student Jason Frost on ‘Villa Toryism or beer-barrel politics? The Romford by-election 1894’.

This detailed case study provides a window into the themes and issues in late Victorian politics.
