Students and colleagues are warmly invited to attend our Athena Swan Action Planning session. Diverse perspectives will be essential to ensuring that our Action Plan is representative and effective.

What is Athena Swan and why does it affect every member of the University?

Athena Swan is a UK-wide framework that recognises and improves gender equality and inclusion across universities. It impacts every member of the University because its commitments shape policies, culture, and everyday practices that support fairness and equal opportunities for all.

What to expect?

This session marks our next phase in the development of our Athena Swan Silver application. As we conclude our self-assessment process, we are now moving into structured action planning. The purpose of this session is to translate findings and consultation into targeted, deliverable, and measurable actions for the next five years.

Even if this is your first time engaging with Athena Swan, we’d love to hear your thoughts and hope you can join us!

Participants will:

  • Contribute directly to shaping institutional priorities and interventions
  • Help ensure actions are specific, proportionate, and outcome-focused
  • Strengthen alignment between lived experience and strategic intent
  • Support the development of a robust, credible Athena Swan submission for April draft review

The session will be facilitated in a structured format using six identified priority areas to maximise efficiency and inclusivity. Contributions will inform the draft Action Plan, which will subsequently be socialised for wider consultation in advance of final submission.
