Inclusive Futures: Insights (IFI) is an employability-focused programme designed to provide you with the opportunity to grow your own network, build confidence and gain an invaluable insight into the huge range of career opportunities that London has to offer you, both while you are studying and once you graduate.

You'll gain first-hand experience of what it is like to work in fast-paced global organisations and hear directly from business professionals.

There are 40 spaces available on the programme. All participants will be paid the London Living Wage which is an hourly rate of £11.95 for taking part.

About the 2023/24 programme

  • You'll attend an in-person introductory workshop to meet your fellow IFI participants
  • You'll be able to explore a number of career options by attending exclusive Insight Days hosted by top London graduate employers
  • After each Insight Day, you'll log the top things you have learnt on Engage
  • You'll take part in Ask a Mentor and group mentoring
  • You'll complete online career-related activities that will help with your employability journey
  • At the end of the programme, you'll consider your goals going forward and have a log of your transferable skills to use in future job applications and interviews
  • You must be able to commit to attending all Mentoring and Insight Sessions which will take place on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm

Eligibility to apply

You must meet all of the ‘Essential criteria’ and at least one of the ‘Additional eligibility criteria’ to be eligible to apply for Inclusive Futures: Insights (IFI).

Essential criteria

  • you must be a fully enrolled full-time student
  • you must be in the first or second year of your undergraduate degree

Additional eligibility criteria

  • you are the first generation in your family to go to University
  • you are a first-generation English speaker in your family
  • your family home is a housing association or council property
  • you are a carer, care leaver or estranged student
  • you are a black, Asian or minority ethnic student
  • you are registered with Disability Learning Support
  • you identify as LGBT+
  • you are a mature student (21 or over)
  • you were eligible for free school meals in the last six years

Applications will also be considered from other underrepresented groups in Higher Education.

Application process

Applications will open on 2 October 2023 and close at 11.59pm on 23 October 2023. 

You'll be asked to upload your CV and answer the following two questions:

  1. What is your main motivation for wanting to take part in Inclusive Futures: Insights? (400 characters maximum)
  2. What have you done to support your career and personal development so far?

Successful applicants will be invited to a compulsory orientation session on the afternoon of Wednesday 8 November.
