Dr Richard Barbrook, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Politics and International Relations, was interviewed by VICE Brazil on his ideas of engaging people in politics through online and offline games.

Dr Richard Barbrook is one of the leaders of Jeremy Corbyn’s Manifesto of Digital Democracy and the man behind the smartphone game Corbyn Run, which received two million hits and was one of the most discussed elements of the Labour campaign last year.

Asked about how games can help in politics, Dr Barbrook said: “In games, you may have experiences that give you some idea of what might happen. We did one on coalitions that showed that [in 2010, during a period known as ' hung parliament ', in which the Conservative Party had a fragile minority] the Conservatives were even weaker than they seemed.”
