Studying English as a Foreign Language

Westminster offers a wide range of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) courses. We have more than 70 years of experience in teaching English and our EFL unit is validated and inspected regularly by the British Council. Below are some of the programmes popular with international students. All courses are taught in Central London.

Pre-sessional programme

Our Pre-sessional English courses will help you develop the language and study skills necessary for academic life on your full-time Undergraduate or Postgraduate course. Our aim is to provide you with a solid foundation for when you start your degree course, and to give you the skills, knowledge and experience to make the most of your time at university.

General English courses

We offer a range of general English courses, depending on your level and required mode of attendance.

English Summer School

During the summer we provide the opportunity to study English combined with cultural and social activities. You will take English classes in the morning and in the afternoon get the chance to explore what London has to offer. We have a range of programmes to cater for different levels and interests.

English language support during your studies

Once you have started your course with us you have the opportunity to take an English for Academic Purposes course, run at our Polylang Centre during the semester.

Classes focus specifically on academic English, ie essay writing, reading and presentation skills. Even if you have strong language skills, these classes are an excellent way to learn academic vocabulary and specific skills related to your degree course.
