Scholarships for UK/EU students
The deadline for all postgraduate scholarship applications is 31 May 2010, unless otherwise stated.
Alumni Scholarships
These are available to you if you are a graduate of any University of Westminster undergraduate degree and plan to proceed to a full-time Masters degree within the University.
Amount: £2,000 tuition fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must be a University of Westminster graduate progressing to a full-time Masters degree at the University. Former study abroad students are eligible for these awards as well.
Criteria: Academic excellence (minimum 2.1 Honours) and financial need.
David Faddy Scholarships
These scholarships have been established in the memory of David Faddy, former Head of the School of Communications, and generously funded by Richard Jenkins and Maureen Amar.
Amount: £2,500 tuition fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for the full-time MA Photojournalism or MA Photographic Studies.
Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need.
MA English Literature Scholarships
Amount: 50% tuition fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for the full-time MA English Literature.
Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need.
EU Newly Acceded and Candidate Countries Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded jointly with International Students House.
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation at International Students House, living expenses and flights to and from London.
Eligibility: You must be from Bulgaria, Croatia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Romania or Turkey and hold an offer for any full-time Masters degree.
Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need.
MA European Studies Scholarship
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver.
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for the full-time MA European Studies.
Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need.
MA Fashion Design and Enterprise Scholarships
Amount: £5,000 to cover fees and living expenses.
Eligibility: You must be a UK student and hold an offer for the full-time MA Fashion Design and Enterprise.
Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need. You will be interviewed and asked to submit a portfolio of work.
MBA Scholarships
Amount: 50% fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for the full-time MBA degree.
Criteria: Academic excellence, career progression and financial need. Preference will be given to you if you work in the voluntary or public sectors.
Deadline: 1 August 2010.
Media, Arts and Design Scholarships
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for any full-time Masters degree in the School of Media, Arts and Design.
Criteria: Academic excellence and/or significant achievement in your chosen field.
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver.
Organ Scholarship
The University has two historic cinema organs. We are looking for students who can play the organ to use these on a regular basis to keep them in good order. The successful applicant will be expected to play each instrument at least weekly. A cash award of £2,000 per annum is available to the successful candidate. Students should supply details of their ability and achievements as a musician. Students may apply at any time for this scholarship but priority will be given to early applicants.

MA Public Relations Scholarship
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver.
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for the full-time MA Public Relations.
Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need. You must have some knowledge and experience of the UK public relations sector.

Westminster Business School Scholarships
These six scholarships are offered by Westminster Business School (WBS) if you are academically exceptional.
Amount: Full tuition fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for any full-time Masters degree, excluding the MBA, within Westminster Business School.
Criteria: Academic excellence and/or evidence of excellence in previous employment, business and community services.
Eastern European Scholarship
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.
Eligibility: You must be from Eastern Europe and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree. You must intend on returning to your home country on completion of the course.

Sarath Palihawadana Scholarship
This scholarship has been established in the memory of Sarath Palihawadana, former student and Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science.
Amount: £1,500 tuition fee waiver.
Eligibility: You must be a University of Westminster graduate holding an offer for the full-time MSc in Advanced Software Engineering.
Criteria: Academic excellence and financial need.
MA Creative Writing: Writing the City Scholarships
Amount: Full tuition fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must hold an offer for a full-time MA Creative Writing: Writing the City degree. American Study Abroad Alumni Scholarships (USA)
These are available to you if you are a student from the United States of America and participated in either a semester or year abroad at the University of Westminster during your undergraduate degree. The student must plan to proceed to a full-time Masters degree within the University of Westminster.
Amount: £2,000 tuition fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must be a student from the USA who has completed either a semester or year abroad at the University of Westminster during your undergraduate degree. You must hold a full-time offer for a Masters course at the University.
Criteria: Academic excellence.
Antigua and Barbuda scholarship
Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) Scholarships
These scholarships are jointly funded by the ACU, the University of Westminster and International Students House. They are available to you if you are a member of staff of the ACU member institutions in developing countries looking to study a full-time Masters in Human Resource Management or Public Relations or another area which is needed by your home university. CASTME Scholarship
The CASTME Scholarship is an annual award to study a Masters degree at the University of Westminster in London There is one general scholarship i.e. students from any Commonwealth country may apply and two others for students from Mauritius and Antigua.
The scholarships are competitive and we anticipate high numbers of applications.
The scholarship consists of payment of Tuition fees at the University of Westminster, accommodation, flights, visa costs, an arrivals allowance, (for suitable clothing) a book allowance and a living allowance of £400 per month, consisting of £250 cash and £150 food allowance. The value of this award is c. £25,000.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate how the skills and knowledge they will gain from the course will further CASTME's aims (www.castme.org ) and the millennium development goals - www.un.org/millenniumgoals/
In particular the candidates will need to show how this award will enable them to enhance the teaching of Science, Technology or Mathematics in their home country.
Candidates must be nationals of a developing commonwealth country - www.thecommonwealth.org/Internal/142227/members/
The successful candidate will be required to return home immediately on completion of their degree. They will be expected to be active members of CASTME in their home country.
Further criteria for the award are, academic excellence (candidates should hold a minimum of an upper second class honours degree, or equivalent) and financial need. Your referee for the application should be a person of standing who is able to comment on your financial status.
All applicants for this award must first be holding the offer of a place (conditional or unconditional) on a Masters programme at the University of Westminster
The deadline for applications to be received is 31st May of the year in which you wish to study.
The decision of the awarding panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into with unsuccessful candidates.
Attempts to lobby CASTME or the University of Westminster will render your application invalid.
Capacity Building Scholarships
The University offers Capacity Building Scholarships to upgrade your skills if you are a faculty member of one of our partner colleges at home or overseas. The value of the scholarship varies depending on need. Please contact the Scholarships Office for full details if you fall into this category.

Eligibility: You must be a faculty member of one of our partner institutions and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree.
Criteria: Academic excellence.
Central American and the Caribbean Scholarships
These scholarships are awarded jointly with International Students House (ISH) and are open to you if you are a Central American or Caribbean national wishing to study a subject useful to the development of the region and intending to return to your country on completion of the course.
Amount: Full tuition fee waivers, accommodation at International Students House, living expenses and flights to and from London.
Eligibility: You must be from Central America, Mexico or the Caribbean and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree at the University.
Criteria: Academic excellence, development potential and financial need.
Commonwealth Broadcasting Association - Chevening Scholarship
This scholarship is offered in conjunction with the Commonwealth Broadcasting Association (CBA), the University of Westminster, International Students House and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation at International Students House, living expenses and flights to and from London.
Eligibility: You must be a member of the administrative and production staff currently employed by CBA member institutions in developing Commonwealth countries, wishing to develop your skills in media, public relations or marketing through an appropriate full-time Masters degree.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships

This scholarship is open to you if you are an international student from a developing country/region affected by a recent natural or man-made disaster. The intention of this scholarship is to aid in the regeneration of the affected country/region and you must make the case for how your chosen course will do this.

Eligibility: You must be an international student from a disaster struck developing country or region and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree. You must intend to return home on completion of the course.

Dr Geoffrey Copland retired as the Vice-Chancellor in July 2007, and this scholarship is named for him in recognition of his unfailing support for the scholarships programme.

Geoff Marsh Scholarship
This scholarship is in memory of Geoff Marsh, a visiting professor at the School of Architecture and the Built Environment. The funds for the living costs for the scholar have been raised by friends and colleagues of Geoff Marsh.

MBI Al Jaber Foundation Scholarships
The MBI Al Jaber Foundation offers scholarships to students from across the Arab world wishing to study for a full-time Masters degree at its partner institutions, including the University of Westminster. The scholarship programme is open to you if you are an Arab resident of the Middle East and North Africa who intends to return to your country of residence and contribute to its future development.
Amount: Full tuition fee waivers, accommodation expenses at the rate of the University's halls of residences, living expenses and flights to and from London.
Eligibility: You must be from the Middle East and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree.

A number of full fee waivers are available for PhD students. These are mainly intended for students wishing to research in the science areas, however, a small number of scholarships will be made available for other subject areas.
Please note that you must first be accepted on a PhD programme at the university before applying and that the deadlines for this are earlier than the scholarships deadlines.

Rajbir Singh Scholarship
Established in memory of Rajbir Singh a former student on the M.A. fashion Business management this scholarship is for a student from a developing country, preference will be given to students who come from counties with major cotton industry and who wish to study subjects relevant to the development and sustainability of that industry.
The scholarship is a full scholarship for a Masters degree students must make a case stating how the skills and knowledge they will gain from the course will help their country/community. We are looking particularly for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit who will help to develop the economy of their community on their return.
Suriname/Guyana Scholarship
This scholarship is awarded jointly with International Students House.
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation at International Students House, living expenses and flights to and from London.
Eligibility: You must be from Suriname or Guyana and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree at the University.

Scholarships for the Philippines
To encourage academically excellent students from the Philippines to attend the university we are offering a full scholarship to a student to study a Masters programme with us. The scholarship will cover fees, accommodation, flights and a living and arrival allowance will be paid.
Eligibility: You must be a student from the Philippines.

MA International Planning & Sustainable Developments Scholarships
A range of scholarships are available to students holding offers on the University’s MA in International Planning & Sustainable developments. Scholarships range from a full to 50 per cent & 25 per cent fee waivers.
Eligibility: You must be an international student from a developing country and hold an offer for a full-time Masters degree in International Planning and Sustainable Development.

Full Scholarship: Latin America
In addition to others listed in this section, scholarships are available which give priority to students from Bolivia, Chile, Guatemala and Panama. Other Latin American students are also encouraged to apply. These are for Masters programmes of the University of Westminster.

Scholarships for China
To celebrate the handover of the Olympic games from Beijing to London, the University has created a series of scholarships for Chinese students, some of which are in partnership with the China scholarship Council.

Bicentenary of Latin American Independence Scholarship
Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation, flights to and from London, and living expenses
Eligibility: You must be from one of the Latin American countries honouring the bicentennial of independence this year; specifically Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay or Venezuela.
