About me

YeSeung Lee joined Westminster School of Art in 2022, having worked as VC2020 Lecturer for Design Cultures at De Montfort University and an associate research tutor for Fashion and Textiles (School of Material) at the Royal College of Art. She has widely practiced in the international fashion industry in both the high-end and mass-produced market, and holds an MA (distinction) from Central Saint Martins (2003) and a PhD from the Royal College of Art (2013). YeSeung’s research draws on material culture, critical theory, and psychoanalysis as a way of interrogating contemporary fashion with a particular focus on its materiality and praxis. She is the author of Seamlessness: Making and (Un)knowing in Fashion Practice (2016), the editor of Surface and Apparition: The Immateriality of Modern Surface (2020) and has published journal articles in fashion, textiles and luxury studies. YeSeung’s current research examines the relations between practices, material culture, and nationhood focusing on the surfaces of everyday environment.
