The Max Lock Centre is an international development research and consultancy group based in the School of the Built Environment at the University of Westminster, London.

Drawing on the ideals of Civic Diagnosis, Community Participation and Urban Design the Centre continues the tradition of multi-disciplinary grass-roots planning, developed over the last 50 years by the Max Lock Group both in the UK and overseas. We focus on research in international development including: policy and practice for urban and regional planning; management and governance in the built environment; poverty reduction; community empowerment; and the creation of sustainable livelihoods at neighbourhood, city and regional levels. |
