Who carries out the Student Experience Survey and why?
This survey is being conducted by the University of Westminster to enable you to reflect and feedback on your course- and University-level experience, as well as related services and support.
What is the purpose of the Student Experience Survey?
By completing this survey, you will be helping the University to identify strengths and weaknesses from a student perspective. This information will be used to inform future developments aimed at improving your experience and that of future students.
Results of the survey
We will use the results of the survey for the following purposes:
- To provide summary feedback to Deans, other senior managers and the Students’ Union. This data will be provided to help them identify the issues that matter to you. This summary feedback will be aggregated and anonymised, ensuring no individual student can be identified. These results may include the text of any comments that you provide. This text will not be attributed to individuals and you are advised to avoid making comments that could enable you to be individually identified.
- The University Planning Office will undertake statistical analysis of the results in each run of the survey and will make year-on-year comparisons.
The University guarantees that the data will not be used in a way that would affect individual students. A data file containing the information collected through this survey will be held by the Planning Office and the reports produced by this department will only include aggregated results and listings of student comments. It will not be possible for the recipients of these reports to identify your individual responses as long as you take care to ensure that any comments you make are not directly attributable.
The results of the questionnaire will be kept for a maximum of seven years to enable the University to monitor progress in improving the student experience. All questionnaire responses will be destroyed at the end of that period.
Opting out of the survey
You do not have to participate in this survey. You can opt out at any time by accessing the Student Experience Survey online and registering that you do not wish to continue, preventing any further reminders being sent.
