SEA and Data Protection
Staff and students are reminded to observe the confidentiality agreement they signed when starting at the University. You are not permitted to use, disclose or communicate information on the Swipe, Engage, Achieve system (SEA) to any person (other than those whose province it is to share data), without the prior written authority of the student concerned. Do not release any information provided by students to external agencies or individuals, unless permitted to do so under the Data Protection Act 1998.
As advised by the Information Commissioner's Office, staff must not put to their own private use data that has been collected for institutional purposes. Such processing may result in disciplinary action.
All personal data on the Swipe, Engage, Achieve system (SEA) must be treated as private and confidential, and because of its sensitive nature appropriate security safeguards should always be applied. Use of the Swipe, Engage, Achieve system (SEA) is subject to the Data protection principles as set out in the Data Protection Act 1998. Access and use of the Swipe, Engage, Achieve system (SEA) is on the understanding that you comply with the data protection principles.
