Prepare for your ceremony

Your invitation

You will be invited to your graduation ceremony by email sent to your University email account. Once you receive this email you will be able to book your place and purchase any guest tickets you require.

If you do not receive an email by the end of April for the July ceremonies or the send of September for the November ceremonies please email the Ceremonies Team, [email protected]

Eligibility to graduate

You will be eligible to attend the July ceremony if your results have been published by Friday 16 June and your award has been conferred.

You will be eligible to attend the November if your results have been published by Friday 13 October.

If your degree is not awarded you will not be able to attend and will be invited to the next available ceremony.

Your ticket

As a graduand, your ticket is free-of-charge, but you will need to respond to the email (by clicking on the link in the email) whether or not you are planning to attend, as it's vital that we know how many people will be at the ceremony.

Guest tickets

Guest tickets are £28 per person and you may purchase as many tickets as you require, however, we can only guarantee four in the first instance.

Should we not be able to fulfil your request you will be refunded for any unallocated tickets.

Before you receive your invitation you should start thinking about who you wish to bring.

Ceremonies 2017

March ceremony

The March ceremony is for Westminster Business School students who will complete their course in January as well as students from the Graduate School. Students eligible to attend this ceremony will be contacted in January 2016.

Saturday 25 March – This ceremony will take place at Marylebone Parish Church and the Marylebone Campus

Summer ceremonies – July 2017

Our summer ceremonies, in July, are for all undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree students who have their degrees awarded between November 2016 and June 2017. You'll receive a ceremony invitation in your University email account by the end of April 2017.

The ceremonies will take place as follows

Monday 10 July

  • 10am – Media, Arts and Design
  • 12.30pm – Media, Arts and Design
  • 3pm – Science and Technology

Tuesday 11 July

  • 10am – Westminster Business School
  • 12.30pm – Westminster Business School
  • 3pm – Architecture and the Built Environment

Wednesday 12 July

  • 10.30am – Social Sciences and Humanities
  • 2pm – Social Sciences and Humanities

Autumn ceremonies – November 2017

Our autumn 2017 ceremonies are for all undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree students who have their degrees awarded between July 2017 and October 2017.

Invitations for the November 2017 ceremonies will be sent to your University email account by the middle of September 2017.

The ceremonies will take place on the following dates, with more details to follow:

Monday 20 November

  • Westminster Business School
  • Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment

Monday 27 November

  • Faculty of Science and Technology
  • Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities
  • Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design

All dates are confirmed and ceremonies will take place at the Royal Festival Hall.

Special requirements

The Royal Festival Hall is fully accessible with spaces available for wheelchair users.

If you or your guests require a space for a wheelchair or have other special requirements, please indicate this when booking your tickets. A member of the ceremonies team will then contact you if necessary.

Visa support

We can provide you with a letter which can be used in support of a visa application/extension for you or your guests.

Please email your request to [email protected] no later than a month before the date of your ceremony.

Before we will send your letter, you will need to have booked for your ceremony and paid for any guest tickets. Please note we cannot name individual guests in this letter.

The letter will be emailed to you as a PDF document, a hard copy can be provided on request. Please note requests may take up to three working days to process.
