Need work experience? Come to the Volunteering Fair
10 February 2016
Don’t worry if you’ve missed out! As part of Employability Month we have organised another Volunteering Fair on Wednesday 24 February at 12-3pm, in Fyvie Hall, Regents Campus. With 20 charities attending the event, you will get a chance to speak face-to-face with charity representatives to gain advice and information that may not be available on their websites.
Many of you are required to undertake a certain number of hours of work experience as part of your course and naturally some students have asked ‘where do I even start looking for these work experience opportunities?’ The Volunteering Fair is a good starting point to see for yourself the range of charitable organisations out there, even if you have never thought of working in a charity before. Why not come and find out more? We have done the hard work and narrowed down some organisations of specific relevance that you may want to find out a little about before the fair:
Westminster Law School (WLS) students might be interested in Young Peoples Law Service, Cardinal Hume Centre and Chinese Information and Advice Centre.
Westminster Business School (WBS) students might be interested in Inspire! and Progressio ICS.
Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) students might be interested in Hestia, Jewish Care and Ms Society.
Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design (MAD) students might be interested in Community Focus, Angelus Foundation and Real Action.
Faculty of Architecture and Built Environment (FABE) students might be interested in The Museum of Brands, Packaging & Advertising and Progressio ICS.
Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (FSSH) students might be interested in City Year UK, Chinese Information and Advice Centre, Cardinal Hume Centre and Hestia.
There are of course other charities that can be useful for students across the board, so do browse the full list of attending exhibitors and mark the ones of interest for yourself. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday 24 February at Fyvie Hall.
