This module allows you to engage with the methods and concerns of wider media traditions associated with courses in the transmedia cluster, such as animation, code art, sonic art, production design, motion graphics, and more. The module begins with an overview of all media areas covered in the module, designed to allow you to make an informed choice for the remainder of the module. The ethos of the module is that you extend your skills and experience into related practices from other courses which are not core to your own course or discipline.
Once you have selected the areas you want to study in depth, you will explore the practices, technologies, skills, ideas and traditions associated with those media, while also drawing from skills established in your own discipline. Responding to these media-specific concerns will lead you into developing your project.
Teaching and learning methods include lectures and seminars, demonstrations, workshops, group and individual tutorials, and peer reviews. The tutorials and workshops will provide the basis for the production of your transmedia project, which will test your abilities to engage with a selected medium, its technologies and languages, and demonstrate skills in the selected production processes. Your development process will be evident through documentation of research, practical and conceptual exploration, production and critical reflection.
