The Distributed and Intelligent Systems (DIS) Research Group is led by Professor Vladimir Getov and has been operational for nearly 20 years. During that time the group has been submitted to four Research Assessments, including REF-2014, where our Impact Case Study summarises most of the group’s long-term results and achievements.

The group profile covers research interests, projects, and activities in Smart extreme-scale Platforms with focus on Performance, Energy and Security, Logic Engineering for Autonomy and Management, Advanced Concurrent Computation and Communication Models, Computer Communication Infrastructures and Networks, Development Methodologies and Environments.

The group has been successful in a number of scientific project grants relevant to the area of expertise, including the COST Action: ”Open European Network for High Performance Computing on Complex Environments” (2009-2013), a Faculty Award Research Grant from IBM: "Smart Cloud Infrastructures" (2009-2011), the GridCOMP STREP EU Project (2006-2010) and the CoreGRID NoE EU Project (2005-2009).
