University of Westminster History students recently participated in their annual fieldtrip to Dublin.

The students are taking the module 1HIS525 Modern Ireland 1868-1922. The group visited a number of sites of particular historical interest, including the GPO, the site of the 1916 Easter Rising and (pictured) the National Museum of Ireland at Collins Barracks.

Dr Martin Doherty, Head of the Department of History, Sociology and Criminology said: 'Fieldtrips are a great way for see for themselves the locations of the fascinating events they have been studying.  They also give students the chance really to bond as a group.'

Thirty History and Criminology students will be visiting Berlin in the Spring and the Department has plans to ensure that from 2016/17, every HSC student has the chance to enjoy at least one overseas trip each year.
