Dr Trino-Manuel Ñíguez at the Department of Economics and Quantitative Methods has been awarded a three-year grant for a research project by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

The project, Solidarity as a Driver of Economic Growth, will incorporate contributions from an international network of investigators – from the University of Salamanca, the University of Murcia, the University of Zaragoza and the University of Luxembourg, to the University of Los Andes and the World Bank.

The grant was awarded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness within its national plan for scientific and technical research and innovation.

In 2015, Trino-Manuel was awarded another highly competitive grant for a project by the Bank of Spain within its programme of Research Projects in Economics. This helped fund the project Financial Risk Modelling and Forecasting under High Degrees of Uncertainty, which also saw contributions of collaborators from Spain and the UK.
