Stunning success for Politics and International Relations in Staff Appreciation Awards 2016
Politics and International Relations 5 July 2016
No fewer than 22 members of staff from DPIR were given awards for excellence in student support. Students from all years commented on the “fantastic lectures and seminars” they had attended, the feeling of “being part of a lively and caring community”, and the “lengths that DPIR staff go to in order to support students and make them feel a part of the department”. Students voted for three different categories.
Special mention must go to Dr Farhang Morady and Dr Ricardo Blaug, who won the two awards for outstanding contribution to student support. Both Farhang and Ricardo were recognised for the huge effort they put in to helping students feel at home, ensuring everyone has enough support, and being a constant source of guidance and inspiration. Receiving his award, Farhang said, “this is a team effort, and I am so pleased to be working alongside so many colleagues who put their students first, and who work tirelessly to engage and inspire through their teaching.”
According to Professor Dibyesh Anand, the Head of Department, “I am proud of be working with so many passionate colleagues who are committed to enhancing student experience and learning. The Department is pleased to have been recognised as a leader in student support and wishes all its students and staff a restful and productive summer. We are looking forward to the start of teaching again in the autumn.”
The Staff Appreciation Awards is managed by the University of Westminster's Student Union.
