Managing professional stress and having a life course

Westminster Centre for Resilience collaborates with the University of Southampton Department of Primary Care and the Foundation for Positive Mental Health to provide resilience training for junior doctors.
With changes in the NHS and the workplace it is increasingly recognised that junior doctors are likely to experience some degree of stress and emotional challenge in their early careers.
Using the combined expertise of the Centre for Resilience, University of Southampton and the Foundation for Positive Mental Health this course has be developed in order to provide junior doctors with a greater understanding of the neurobiological processes that underpin stress and recovery from emotional overload, along with evidence based skills and strategies to help them to develop personal resilience for their professional life.
Professor David Peters, Director, Westminster Centre for Resilience said: "Using the extensive experience of our course tutors in frontline medical practise, facilitating resilience and improving emotional wellbeing, our aim is to promote a lifelong approach to positive mental health and wellbeing to this important cohort of front-line health professionals. We are delighted to be collaborating with the University of Southampton and the Foundation for Positive Mental Health in order to do this".
