Ten students from Electronic Engineering BEng Honours and Computer Network Security BSc Honours courses visited Leonardo, a leading defence company that is one of the biggest suppliers of defence equipment to the UK Ministry of Defence and which runs graduate and apprenticeship schemes, both highly relevant to Westminster students. The students were accompanied by Dr Anush Yardim, Department of Engineering’s Industrial Liaison and Placement Tutor.

Dr Edward Wright, Senior Lecturer in Medical Microbiology at the University of Westminster, has successfully secured external funding for two research projects to tackle emerging viruses. This further cements the reputation of Dr Wright’s research group at the University as a leader in the field of emerging virus research. The grants come as an addition to the two active projects that have already been funded in his lab.

University of Westminster collaborates on developing Virtual Reality software for learning languages in 3D

The University of Westminster’s Department of Computer Science and Linguisticator Ltd – a memory and language training company – collaborated on the development of the alpha version of a Virtual Reality software prototype that will be used to teach languages using a memory palace. The software also has the potential to expand for other learning applications.
