Business and Management 19 January 2018
18 entrepreneurs from the borough of Haringey have been selected for a 15 week support programme which aims to help them to expand their businesses, boosting the local economy. The programme launched on 19 January 2018 at the Westminster Business School attended by the participants, entrepreneurship students and guests.
The entrepreneurs will attend the weekly workshops at the University of Westminster which will provide mentoring, teach business skills and will participate in three unique challenges. The bespoke programme has been designed to empower participants by exposing them to entrepreneurial thinking while immersing them in entrepreneurial experiences enabling them to develop essential entrepreneurial skills.
The programme aims to support the local economy by expanding local business, increasing work opportunities and income in the area. Local business owners have been carefully selected by Haringey Council and Westminster Business School during Global Entrepreneurship Week and include, a craft beer maker, a fashion designer, a business marketing executive, and a horticulturist. Each business and entrepreneur were identified as having the potential to scale-up their business to increase their revenue and profits.
The programme will be run by Dr Jane Chang with Dr Ainurul Rosli, Nelia Koroleva and Supin Hussain at Westminster Business School and will run from 19 January through to 8 May 2018. It is supported by Haringey Borough Council and funded by the Mayor of London.
Speaking about the Programme, Dr Chang said: “We are so excited to be running this pilot programme in Entrepreneurship with Haringey Council! We are really looking forward to demonstrating the social and economic impact of the programme on the participants and the wider local community.”
