New Employability Hub

On 22- 23 January, the University of Westminster launched a new Employability Hub allowing students to come and discuss skills development, work experience and overseas opportunities at one dedicated space at the Marylebone Campus.

The newly set-up Employability Hub aims to provide students with better access to professional staff with whom they can discuss employability, work experience such as internships, placements, as well as overseas opportunities. It now consists of staff from the Career Development Centre, which includes the Westminster Business School (WBS) Business Experience Team and the Architecture and Built Environment (ABE) Work Placement Team, as well as the WBS and ABE Outward Mobility Officers, and the Director of Internationalisation for WBS.

On 22-23 January, students and members of staff were invited to join the grand opening of the new Employability Hub where they had the chance to find out more about the services and benefits offered by the team.

Monica Deshpande, Head of Employability and Learning Support, said about the launch of the new hub: “I am delighted with the launch of the Employability Hub at Marylebone. It represents a dedicated space for our students to go to for information and support on employability, work experience and outward mobility.”

Students, who attended the launch event, expressed their enthusiasm regarding the new Hub. Diva Gogia said: “I really like the fact that the new Employability Hub is very flexible and that I can walk in whenever I need help, rather than needing to book an appointment.”

Marketing Intern Nicole Pramotton, who took part in the launch of the event, said: “Having an Employability Hub on campus will change the way students can approach the Placements Team and Outward Mobility Team when looking for advice on their career choices, thanks to its flexibility, openness and helpful teams. I believe the New Hub is a valuable addition to our campus and a very useful resource for us students looking for new opportunities.”
