Eleven students from the Fashion Design BA Honours course have been selected by a panel of industry professionals to show their work at a show during London Fashion Week.

The final year students showcased their collections for A/W 2018/19 in front of the panel in the hopes of being selected for a coveted spot at the London Fashion Week show. The panel consisted of renowned fashion professionals including: Charlie Porter, menswear critic for the Financial Times; Natasha Booth, part of Fashion East; Gordon Richardson, ex-creative director for Topman; John Booth, print designer for Fendi and Cozette McCreery, designer for Sibling.

This is the first time any undergraduate course will be showcasing their graduate collections on the official London Fashion Week schedule. The Fashion Design BA course, run by course director Andrew Groves, sees students working in tandem with the international fashion calendar in their final two years so they are ready for the industry seasons on graduation.

The students chosen are; Catriona Wilson, Dillan Chipchase, Holly Priestley, Joshua Crabtree, Lauren Knowlson, Manon Planche, Megan Williams, Paolo Carzana, Savannah Avery, Suzi Lee, William Dill-Russell. The selected students have undertaken a year in industry working for major companies such as; McQueen London, Marc Jacobs NY, Celine, Burberry, Louis Vuitton and Versus Versace.

Each collection draws inspiration from a wide range of themes and periods, from questioning gender identity with the language of clothing to dystopian futures and the survival of civilisation. The diversity of the collections means that the show will be a bold and creative addition to the London Fashion Week line up.

“Each year the students’ talent, ideas and technical skills improve. After careful consideration we agreed on an impressive show line-up expressing a diverse mix of talents and creativity. The show is a deserving addition to the official London Fashion Week schedule.”

Westminster Fashion alumni include London Fashion Week designers Roberta Einer, Claire Barrow, Katie Ann McGuigan, Liam Hodges and Ashley Williams; as well as Christopher Bailey, President and Chief Creative Officer of Burberry; Vivienne Westwood, and Stuart Vevers, Creative Director of Coach.
