Dr Daphne Economou connects Mobile User Experience students with Digital Industry professionals
Computer Science and Software Engineering 13 February 2018
Through the Mobile User Experience module, students worked in collaboration with the digital company ORM London in the design and development of a mobile web app.
Students received help and advice from academics and industry mentors. At the end of the design process, the students with the best projects were offered the opportunity to interview for an internship at ORM London.
This year, 14 students from the Digital Media Development BSc Honours, the Computer Science BSc Honours and the Business Information Systems BSc Honours were selected by ORM London to be interviewed for this year’s internships. Since 2015, the company has employed four students as part of its collaboration with the University of Westminster.
Dr Daphne Economou, Mobile User Experience module Leader, said about this partnership: "Industry led projects expose our students to real working environment requirements, helps them achieve the expected University graduate attributes and strengthens their esteem about the skills and knowledge they receive while studying at the University. It also opens a direct avenue for employability."
Emma Rosenberg, Global Talent Director at ORM and Celerity, spoke about the quality of Westminster students, saying: “I have had the great pleasure of working with the team at The University of Westminster over the past couple of years.
“They have provided us with students who we have employed either as part one employees during their degrees or as full time employees after they have finished their studies. The quality of students that we have seen through Westminster has always been incredibly and hard and makes it very difficult for us to choose who to employ.”
