Westminster Scientists at New Scientist Live

Over the unique four-day event lecturers from the Department of Life Sciences and Biomedical Sciences will be demonstrating, and sharing activities across a wide range of specialist areas including human ageing, brain modelling, drug discovery, antibiotic resistance, synthetic biology, DNA sequencing and Cancer Biology discovery.
Professor Lewis Dartnell (cover picture), will also be delivering a talk at the event covering his research field, Astrobiology. He will more specifically question whether life might exist beyond the Earth.
Speaking about his involvement in this year’s New Scientist Live, he said: “I’m really excited to be presenting at New Scientist Live again this year. The event is always great fun, and it’s a fantastic opportunity to share my passion for astrobiology and the research I conduct at the University of Westminster with new audiences.”
Dr Bradley Elliott, who will also take part in the event said: “It’s a great chance to talk to people about the research we’re doing here in the Biomedical Sciences here at Westminster, my personal research into successful ageing and show people how exciting science can be! If we get one person from the day who comes into a science career after attending, it’s a win for us.”
Professor Lewis Dartnell and Dr Bradley Elliott will be joined by colleagues Mike Newell, Sigrun Lange, Caroline Smith, Manal Mohammed, Tony Madgwick, Carol D’Souza, Nadege Presneau, Pinar Uysal Onganer, Miriam Dwek as well as the Westminster IGEM team. The event is also supported by the University of Westminster’s Outreach Team.
