Westminster’s Employability Team shortlisted for the Best University Careers Service in the NUE Awards 2017

The University of Westminster was shortlisted in the category ‘Best University Careers/Employability Service’ for the second year running. The award ceremony was held on the 24 February and was hosted by RMP Enterprise.
Over 500 graduate recruiters, university representatives and students joined together for an evening of inspiration and motivation. Oliver Sidwell, Co-Founder of RMP Enterprise commented on how “having received over 500 entries for this year's NUE Awards, we have been able to gain a real insight into the invaluable contributions and incredible achievements of our many stakeholders in the undergraduate work experience market. A huge thank you to all of those who nominated this year and congratulations to our finalists and well deserved winners.”
Six representatives from the University of Westminster, Monica Deshpande, Head of Employability & Learning Support, Iram Sial, Careers Consultant, Hanna Gnanaseharam, Work Placement Officer, Hristina Simeonova, Employability Coordinator, Amy Dicks, Employability Assistant and Mailis Merisalu, LCS Finance Administrator, attended the ceremony.
Speaking about the event, Monica Deshpande said: “I am absolutely delighted that the Career Development Centre was a finalist at the NUE Awards 2017, in the category for Best Careers Service. This nomination is a testament to the team’s commitment to our students and the difference they are making to employability.”
The Westminster Employability team aims to support students in finding work experience as well as graduate jobs and to ensure a high quality experience for them while in these position. Events are organised across the University by the Employability team to increase the awareness of the work experience and internship opportunities available to students. The Career Development Centre collaborated with the Students’ Union, the Alumni Team and staff across the University to hold an Employability Month last February.
Talent Bank, the University’s employability initiative aimed at helping students find relevant part time employment, is also a successful platform providing a wide range of work experience.
