Westminster’s acclaimed Architecture and Interiors exhibition OPEN 2017 to launch
Architecture and Interiors 7 June 2017
The annual celebration showcases the emerging talent of students from the University of Westminster’s Architecture BA Honours, Interior Architecture BA Honours, Designing Architecture BA, Architectural Technology BSc Honours, and Architecture (MArch) (RIBA Pt II) and Architecture MA courses.
The OPEN 2017 exhibition will include students’ work from first year to graduation, including architecture drawings, models and fabrications, ranging from the handmade to virtual realities, and from small-scale to full-size.
Themes explored by exhibiting students will include 'Home Acts', 'Housings' and 'Manifesto'. Attendees will also get a chance to see the acclaimed restored Marylebone studios as well as the state-of-the-art digital fabrication laboratory, the Fabrication Laboratory Westminster.
Harry Charrington, Head of Architecture at the University of Westminster, said: “OPEN is a vital celebration of our students’ work. It is being held in our beautiful Architecture studios, giving us the opportunity to fully show off the extraordinary imagination, care and craft involved in the projects.”
Learning Platform Exhibits
Open in parallel on the ground floor Learning Platform is the University of Westminster’s International Design Competition (South Asia) and Latitudes Studio Exhibition.
The exhibitions address the brief of ‘A Collective Challenge to Transform 100 Public Spaces’ and have been set up in collaboration with the National Association of Students of Architecture (NASA India) and Massive Small UK.
We also present ‘Light and Flight’, an interactive installation including drawings and models, exploring the notion of memory.
The OPEN 2017 exhibitions will be open to the public from 9am to 9pm every day between Friday 16 June and Sunday 2 July at the University of Westminster’s Marylebone Campus, 35 Marylebone Road, London NW1 5LS.
