Westminster graduate music shows feature best artists

Music 1 June 2017

Third year Commercial Music Performance BMUS Honours students performed their final show at the industry like venue Area 51 at Harrow campus over five days from 12-18 May.

Every night eight students took to the stage to perform their upcoming hits and experience the thrill of live performance. All of the students were handpicked for their creativity, talent and commitment to their musical careers.

The performances were filmed and live streamed by the University of Westminster technical team, Matthew McGuinness and Brandon Wade, seven Television Production BA students, and directed and visually mixed by Michaela Sibertova, current intern in the television department.

Robert Benfield, Course Leader on the Television Production BA Hons said: “The opportunity for Television students to work with the talent from the music department and to experience live broadcasting is invaluable. Event filming is a big part of the broadcast television landscape and using live-streaming platforms is all a part of learning how the web is often the first destination for content.”

Television Production Intern Michaela Sibertova said: “This event was once again a fantastic experience, both my very hard working and talented crew and I, are very happy we could be part of this collaboration.”

University of Westminster’s music department has strong links with top industry creatives and features one of the best music facilities in the UK.

Area 51 is a highly equipped music venue with full audio, lightening and AV installations. It is used for several courses including Commercial Music BA Honours, Commercial Music Performance BMUS Honours, Applied Sound for Interactive Media MA and Audio Production MA and provides an opportunity to its students to practise performance in a professional music venue.
