The Creative Careers Fair on 25 January 2017 at the Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design saw huge numbers of students attend presentations and stalls from a variety of employers.

The annual fair is organised by the Career Development Centre with the Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design to bring leading industry experts and employers into the university to meet Westminster students. This year, Vivienne Westwood, House of Fraser, Apple, Propeller TV, Kurt Geiger, and The NoiseHouse were among the organisations who attended.

Visiting employers had stalls and tables promoting their business and career opportunities and students were able to go to four presentations across the day delivered by Propeller TV,, LinkedIn, and Territory Studio. Each company described their businesses, how they work and how they have grown over the years providing valuable industry insights into what skills and knowledge are needed in these areas. International multi-media company Propeller TV based in Chiswick, London explained what they are looking for in future employees and what it is like to work there.

Westminster students were given an exclusive look at the upcoming vacancies at Propeller TV that the company are looking to fill within the next two months. The presentation was followed by a question and answer session after which students were invited to the Forum area to meet Propeller TV’s Executive Director.

Many of the employers were keen to interact with the students, tell them more about their companies, and work opportunities.

The Social Partners, and advocacy agency who attended the fair, said: “The whole day and set up worked really well. It was fantastic to meet so many interesting young people and talk to them about their futures. We have already heard from several people who we met at the fair which is fantastic”.

MDT Media commented: “The Creative Careers Fair is a practical way of meeting potential candidates in a relaxed environment. The students are able to ask questions and gain real insight into the world of prospective employers way before the interview stage. And for this reason the experience is always going to be helpful.”
