17 July 2017
Eighteen MBA students visited Westminster International University in Tashkent in June 2017 to meet with industry professionals in Uzbekistan.
Students enjoyed two days exploring Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent before starting a week-long series of seminars on leadership and visits to some of Uzbekistans most successful businesses including Anglesey Food, Murad Buildings and technology company CLICK where the students worked as shadow advisory boards.
Working as advisory boards allowed students to see the successes enjoyed and challenges faced by the companies. CLICK, a mobile technology company strong strategic vision for their business development but the shadow advisory board were able to identify areas for growth in stewardship and corporate governance.
HR Education is so far underdeveloped in Uzbekistan, because of this the shadow advisory boards found that Murad Buildings faced recruitment challenges and they were able to identify existing in house potential and development opportunities to improve the recruitment procedures.
Writing about her experience, MBA student Janine Hornsby said: “During this process I learnt a lot about myself as a leader… I saw real value in the process of collaboration between myself, my team and CLICK, in that we were all able to contribute ideas from different perspectives, bringing a variety of skills and life experiences to the project, which ultimately lead to a positive outcome for our client and strong potential to continue our relationship in future.”
