The University of Westminster visited its Indian partner universities and renewed its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Jamia Millia Islamia University during a recent visit to the country.

Our partnerships in India support the global reach of our research activities as well as enable staff and student mobility. The MOU with Jamia Millia Islamia University will allow us to develop new partnership activities in Delhi across a range of disciplines, and further consolidate our interaction with leading Indian higher education institutions.

As part of the visit, colleagues from Westminster were able to engage productively with counterparts at a number of universities, including: Jamia Millia Islamia University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Jagannath International Management School and IILM in Delhi and HR College, Indian School of Design & Innovation, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies and Tata Institute of Social Sciences in Mumbai.

Professor Alexandra Hughes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement, led the Westminster delegation to Delhi and Mumbai. The Westminster group included Professor Ipsita Roy, Professor in Microbial Biotechnology in the Faculty of Science and Technology; Dr Dibyesh Anand, Head of Department and Reader in International Relations in the Department of Politics and International Relations; Jim McClellan, Course Leader for the Journalism BA Honours course in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication; Westminster Business School Internationalisation Director Jonathan Pike; Ms Victoria Rose, International Partnerships Manager; Victoria Woodward, Regional Manager for South Asia; and Ms Anju Singh, Regional Advisor for South Asia.

Alongside well-established university connections in India, the University of Westminster has a strong community of alumni and current Indian students. The University delegation welcomed groups of alumni at receptions held in Delhi and Mumbai. In addition, our alumni relations team met a number of Westminster’s Indian alumni in order to identify new opportunities to enhance our alumni engagement activities, including mentoring and networking opportunities.

Internationalisation is central to the University’s strategic vision and identity. We have extensive connections with universities and industries throughout the world and our global engagement strategy seeks to strengthen and deepen those connections ever further. Our international partnerships support the development of our academic and research portfolios. Experiences that enable our staff and students to operate in an increasingly interconnected, internationalised world are key to our approach.
