Westminster’s Employability team shortlisted for the Best University Careers Service in NUE Awards 2016

The Employability team aims to support students in finding work experience and to ensure a high quality experience for them while on the position. Various events are organised by the team to increase the awareness of the work experience and internship opportunities available to students.
Talent Bank is the University’s employability initiative established to helps students find relevant part time employment. In 2015/16, 745 students took part in the scheme. Over 800 students applied to join the Talent Bank and more than 300 attended the requisite assessment days.
Feedback is provided to every student, successful and unsuccessful to provide them with top tips and unsuccessful students are referred back to the Career Development Centre for further help with their CVs and interview skills. In 2016, over 1500 job applications were received, 567 interviews conducted and 330 positions filled.
Talent Bank staff follow-up with hiring managers in external companies two weeks after any student has started a new role to make sure everything is going well, the student is settling in and to check whether further assistance from the Talent Bank team is required.
The Career Development Centre collaborated with the Students’ Union and the Alumni Team to put on an Employability Month during February, which included Small Companies, Big Jobs – two careers fairs for small and medium-sized enterprises bringing 34 start-ups and 165 student bookings, HACKminster, Lunchtime sessions delivered by Careers Consultants as well Alumni Panel and Drinks Reception with 20 Speakers and over 300 student bookings.
The winners will be announced at the NUE Awards Ceremony in London on Friday 24th February.
