Dr Maria Granados, Lecturer at Westminster Business School, is the winner of EMES International Research Network best paper for her study Knowing what Social Enterprises Know.

Her winning paper explores how social enterprises in the UK acquire, apply and protect their knowledge. It also investigates how social enterprises can improve their practices by managing their knowledge effectively, as well as the positive social, environmental and economical impacts effective knowledge management can have on their operations.

The paper, presented by Maria at the EMES International Research Conference on Social Enterprise last year, was selected for its “originality, rigor, and 'fresh air' in social enterprise research" by a committee.

Maria, who is currently involved in another research study of social enterprise models in Colombia, commented on her award saying: “This is an encouraging recognition of my research and work in social enterprises from a group of leading international scholars that I really admire. It gives me the motivation to continue pursuing research in understanding more about this important and valuable enterprises.”
