Westminster Professional Language Centre hosts successful engagement event

7 May 2015

Language event at Westminster

Foreign language capacity in the UK: showcasing successful engagement was hosted at the University of Westminster on 28 April 2015.

Delegates at the event were shown two video case studies of the innovative language teaching work now being conducted in some London primary schools. The videos demonstrated the achievements of young pupils in the Spanish language and the growing confidence of teachers to deliver curriculum subjects (including Physical Education) in a foreign language.

Some inspirational speakers celebrated the success of the project, including Baroness Coussins (who is well known for her support of modern languages), Munira Mirza (Deputy Mayor for Education and Culture) and Peter Mathews from Black Country Metals. Training providers working for the University of Westminster were also on hand to give details about the project.

Over 70 people from the worlds of education and business attended the evening. Hispania kindly provided drinks and cheeses, contributing greatly to the success of the event.
