Westminster Herbal Medicine graduates exhibit at GROW London Contemporary Garden Fair

19 June 2015

Herbal Medicine BSc Honours alumni Victoria Chown and Kim Walker will be running herbal foraging classes at this year’s GROW London Contemporary Garden Fair taking place on Hampstead Heath from 19 – 21 June.

Victoria and Kim are the founders of Handmade Apothecary (HMA), which develops and sells herb based cosmetics and medicines. The pair met during their studies at the University of Westminster, and set up HMA in order to share their excitement about natural heritage with others.

“Our aim is to help others to re-establish a bond with nature and use plants and natural ingredients for health, home and self-care” says HMA.

As part of their exhibition at GROW London, Victoria and Kim will teach Londoners how to identify plants known for their medicinal uses before explaining how such plants can help treat conditions such as arthritis, hay fever and gut problems.

GROW London is a new concept in British gardening events: an urban, boutique show, with around 100 selected exhibitors selling a mix of plants, furniture and paraphernalia in a marquee, set in the surroundings of Hampstead Heath.

The University of Westminster’s Herbal Medicine BSc Honours degree is fully accredited by the European Herbal & Traditional Practitioners Association, The National Institute of Medical Herbalists and The College of Practitioners of Phytotherapy. The course is taught within the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University’s Cavendish Campus.
