Westminster Fashion Business graduate and successful entrepreneur featured in the Independent

25 March 2015

Laboni Saha, 27, received her Fashion Business Management MA from the University of Westminster Faculty of Media, Arts and Design in 2012, and has since launched her own fashion label L SAHA collection. The label employs small artisan manufacturers in the UK to make garments according to eco-sustainable principles.

Saha was interviewed for the Independent Postgraduate supplement in February 2015 as part of a feature on successful young entrepreneurs. Saha originally came to London for the final year of her degree at the India National Institute of Fashion Technology. She then stayed in the UK for another year to complete the MA in Fashion Business Management at the University of Westminster.

"During my first degree I spent a lot of time in the studio creating clothes and I didn’t think much about the commercial aspects such as the market and supply chain. The Westminster MA was just right for me because I got to know about business, management and leadership and how the fashion industry works in a way that was tailored to becoming an entrepreneur", she said.

Virginia Grose, the course leader of the Fashion Business Management MA, said: "The MA gives students leadership skills. They get a 360-degree vision of how a business works in terms of putting a strategy together, understanding the supply chain and how innovation happens – not just in products but in the cycle of brand management."
