Westminster Fashion alumni receive British Fashion Council NEWGEN Awards

Fashion 10 December 2014

Claire Barrow and Ashley Williams (both University of Westminster Fashion Design BA Honours course graduates) are amongst the winners of the British Fashion Council (BFC) NEWGEN Designers Awards for Autumn Winter 2015.

NEWGEN is the BFC’s landmark scheme to support the very best emerging talents whose ambition is to build global, high end fashion brands for the future. The scheme offers designers financial support and showcasing opportunities at London Fashion Week to present their AW15 collection to influential press and buyers from around the world.

Previous NEWGEN winners include Alexander McQueen, Christopher Kane, Erdem, Jonathan Saunders, J.W. Anderson, Mary Katrantzou, Nicholas Kirkwood, Roksanda Ilincic and Simone Rocha.

The BFC NewGen awards are chaired by Sarah Mower, contributing editor at American Vogue and the BFC Ambassador for Emerging Talent.

Sarah Mower commented: “NEWGEN produces the stars of London Fashion Week - the phenomenal progress of Marques’Almeida in six seasons of support is proof of that. Following in their footsteps is a whole new slew of discoveries whose sparky originality and careful entrepreneurialism have won them the praise of the NEWGEN committee and TOPSHOP's invaluable sponsorship.”
