New senior research fellow, Luis Delgado, appointed in Department of Planning and Transport

In January 2014, Luis Delgado joined the Air Transport and Air Traffic Management group of the Department of Planning and Transport at the University of Westminster as senior research fellow.

He will continue his research on Air Transport while working on different international projects.

Luis obtained his PhD in Aerospace Science and Technology from the Technical University of Catalonia (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, UPC) in 2013. His PhD research was focused on the use of speed variations during the cruise to deal with Air Traffic Flow Management delays. He is an aeronautical engineer from the National School for Civil Aviation (École Nationale de l'Aviation Civile, ENAC) located in Toulouse (France). He also holds a degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Barcelona School of Informatics (Facultat d'Informàtica de Barcelona, FIB) which belongs to the UPC.

From 2007 until 2014, he worked as assistant professor at the School of Telecommunications and Aerospace Engineering of Castelldefels from the UPC. He has taught over 1,100 hours in eight different courses related with air transport. His research topics include Air Traffic Flow Management, Aircraft Performance and Integration of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles into the civil airspace. In 2011 he did an internship as visiting researcher at NASA Ames research centre in California.

Luis holds a private pilot license with more than 100 hours of flight in France, Spain and USA.
