Network for Languages London has been awarded a grant of £600,000 by the London Schools Excellence Fund to support and develop language teaching in schools.

The London Schools Excellence Fund (LSEF) is part-funded by the Department for Education and has been established by the Mayor to focus on raising the quality of teaching in primary and secondary schools, improving the attainment of school pupils in core subjects, including languages.

This award will enable the Network for Languages London team to work with primary and secondary schools across a number of London boroughs. The grant will allow language teachers involved in the scheme to share ideas and approaches to teaching and provide them with the opportunity to update their professional skills as well as their subject knowledge in languages, linguistics and language teaching methodology. The Network for Languages London team will be supported by a team of trainers and mentors.

Network for Languages London is located in the Westminster Professional Language Centre at the University of Westminster.
