History students visit Instituto Cervantes in London

31 October 2014

A group of history students studying the module The Spanish Civil War: Spain in Crisis 1936-39 visited the library of the Instituto Cervantes in London.

The institute is located in a beautiful building on Eaton Square. Head librarian Mayte Azorin introduced the students to the vast collection of books, DVDs and other media the library holds on the topic of the Spanish Civil War.

Students were then able to study the library's collection of original Spanish Civil War pamphlets. These pamphlets are propaganda material published by the Spanish Republic and their opponents, the Nationalists led by General Franco. The documents gave the students a unique insight into the 'propaganda war' fought alongside the war on the battlefields of Spain.
