Emirates Stadium opens doors to University of Westminster students

Tourism and Events 11 December 2014

Arsenal Meetings and Events hosted 65 University of Westminster Tourism and Events Management students to an educational visit of the Emirates Stadium’s events spaces, followed by a Q&A session with Sales Executive Martin Pond and Senior Event Executive Martina Rossi.

Dr Claire Humphreys, Course Leader at the University of Westminster, said:

"As students start out on their careers in the events industry it is vital that they gain understanding of the role of event managers and the intricacies of hosting corporate and private events. Our visit to the Emirates Stadium provides students at the University of Westminster with an opportunity to learn about the work of event professionals, as well as providing them with the chance to link their learning with real-world practice."

The students were given a tour of the four multi-purpose event suites including the exclusive Diamond Club, media suite and the pitch itself which has, for the first time this year, been used for corporate events.

During the session, the students were able to learn about the wide variety of events the venue hosts, ranging from small meetings to large-scale concerts. Students also gained an understanding of the flexibility and professionalism needed when working in the event industry.

The Tourism and Events Management BA Honours degree at the University of Westminster is designed for students who have an interest in the tourism sector generally and are also keen to focus on the burgeoning field of events management. The course provides the skills and knowledge required to manage event businesses and to stage an event effectively.
