University of Westminster research demonstrates new delivery system for oral iron
18 September 2013
Dr Derek Renshaw, Senior Lecturer in Human Physiology and a School of Life Sciences Entrepreneurial Prize Fellow, from the Department of Human and Health Sciences, says of the research:
“Our latest publication demonstrates a new delivery system for oral iron, which is designed to increase the efficiency and reduce the side-effects compared to conventional iron products. Given that the World Health Organisation (WHO) estimates there are 1.2 billion people globally who are iron deficient and side-effects are the main reason for low subject compliance with conventional therapies, this novel research represents a significant advancement in the field of oral iron delivery.”
