Ashley Williams, who studied fashion design at the University of Westminster, is set to follow in the path of fellow classmate Claire Barrow on Monday and show her debut collection as part of Fashion East, at London Fashion Week from 15 February to 19 February 2013.

Williams’ London Fashion Week debut is hotly anticipated. Her ‘all-American’ staples have already been worn on stage by Rihanna and have been featured in such titles as Vogue UK, The Independent, Nylon and Elle.  She was chosen to showcase her collection by Fashion East’s panel of industry experts, which includes Sarah Mower (Contributing Editor, Vogue US & Style.com) and Hugo Scott (Head of European Operations, Marc Jacobs).

Ashley Williams’ graduate show made headlines with her Texan-inspired collection. Modelled by Pixie Geldof and Alice Dellal, Williams presented a kitsch take on Americana. Specialising in light-hearted prints, her ecstatic ‘Happy Ashley ‘motif is as infectious as it is wearable on cropped cigarette pants, A-line dresses and silk shirts.

The BA (Hons) Fashion Design course at the University of Westminster is one of the world’s leading fashion courses, with a long track record of producing talent for the global fashion industry and major brands. Students currently on the course are interning for companies including Tom Ford, Iris Van Herpen, Celine, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin and Alexander McQueen.

Renowned alumnus Christopher Bailey, Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, will also be presenting his autumn/ winter 2013 collection at London Fashion Week.

Last year, fellow graduate Claire Barrow also debuted her SS13 collection at London Fashion Week and was heralded as one of London’s most promising designers to watch. Her signature hand-painted leathers and elaborately illustrated garments have been worn by everyone from Kristen Stewart in Vogue UK to The Horrors frontman Faris Badwan as part of a Claire Barrow for SHOWstudio live special project.

Andrew Groves, Course Director for Fashion Design at Westminster, says: “I’m thrilled that Ashley Williams is now joining Claire Barrow and showing at London Fashion Week. Both Claire and Ashley showed great creativity during their time with us at Westminster and being selected for Fashion East is a clear recognition of their unique talent. We predict great things for both of them in the future and I look forward to seeing where their journey into the fashion world will bring them next.”
