School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages students celebrate their achievement awards

23 March 2012

68 students from the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Languages, who are currently in their second and third year of studies, have been awarded a University of Westminster Achievement Award in recognition of their success in coming top of their Undergraduate degree course studies last session.

The School held a ceremony on 25 January 2012 to mark the occasion. Students and their guests were welcomed by the Dean of School, Dr Jeremy Colwill, and there were brief speeches from the Scholarships Director, Colin Matheson, and from Professor Morgan-Tamosunas, Deputy Vice-Chancellor. The students were then each presented with a  Certificate and a cheque for £1,000 by their Head of Department and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

Students’ family and friends attended, some flying in from abroad for the event, and academic staff were also present to share in their students’ success. This occasion was much enjoyed by all and was followed by a celebratory drinks reception.

The University of Westminster offers the largest scholarship programme of any UK university – more than £4million last year – to UK, EU and international students. Further details of our scholarships scheme can be found on our scholarships pages
