Westminster triumph at the RTS regional awards.
28 January 2010
BA Televison secured three and BA Film & TV took a further four.
The two clean sweep categories, Entertainment and Drama ensures that Westminster will go forward to the National awards.
To win all three nominations in the entertainment category clearly shows that the BA Television course in JMC is a cut above the competition in the region, according to Senior Lecturer,Rob Benfieldo.
We have great resources and we use them well, he adds.
The nominations cover, Light Entertainment, Comedy and Reality TV all uniquely television disciplines, yet all three have a commanding web presence as well.

BA Television nominations are:
“Should be called Westminster’s Got Talent. A great event, co-ordinated by BA Televison students, combining talent from nearly every department in MAD. The quality of the audio and visuals we broadcast to America via the web, matched the amazing talent of the performers and the event showcased music, fashion, audio and documentary”
The Hammelburg Experience. Two students from BA Television embarked on a simple weeks filming of a business and music event in Germany and by working 15 hour days and spending weeks in post –production they produced a prodigious, 3 half-hour programme series. It was a natural ‘reality’ TV event.
ME AND MY LIFE 2 Years On
Victoria Weatherall, BA Illustration, made a comic series for the web, VIC’S CHIPS, with the same two BA Television, students James Smith and Danny Kenneally who triumphed with MU:ZONE.
This is part two of a series of three. Clever, funny with a biting satirical edge it mocks celebrity focussed TV, In answer to what her Hollywood movie is called she replies; “ Its just called Victoria, I’m a bit like Madonna or Jesus me”
More news on the nominations soon.
The RTS, Royal Television Society Awards, alongside the BAFTAS are the most prestigious wards for television production in the UK
